Most lift damage comes from ice, from a hard load, or from years of the same joint flexing. Aluminum lifts in particular crack at welds rather than bending, which is repairable if caught before the crack runs.

What affects scheduling
Lift and dock work depends on weather, water level, and shore access, so timing is confirmed rather than promised. We do not dive, and we do not weld below the waterline: the repair area needs to be accessible and dry enough to weld properly. If a lift needs to come out of the water first, that is usually the customer’s or the marina’s part of the job.

Lift damage is hard to describe over the phone. Photos of the bent or cracked area plus a wider shot of the whole lift tell us the material, the size, and how to get at it.

Access and water level
We need to know whether the lift is in the water, on shore, or on a trailer, and how the mobile unit can get near it. Shore access and water level drive the plan.

Aluminum or steel, on site
Aluminum lift and pontoon work uses different process and prep than steel. We confirm the material before arriving so the right setup comes with us.

If a repair should wait until the lift is out for the season, or should be done now before the crack spreads, we will say which.
